Conferences - What do mobile phone users think?
Recom regularly attends key international conferences, especially those that are relevant to the market sectors we serve.
A recent example was the 3GSM World Congress, the world's biggest conference specifically for the Mobile Communications industry. This event is an excellent opportunity to meet with and learn from all the key telecoms industry players - the operators, content and service providers, service developers and technological experts.
Recom's MD Ria Barnabas gave a well-received talk on 'What do users think?' detailing the latest research into consumer opinions, reactions and trends in using mobile technology.
Some of the key issues revealed in the presentation were:
- We are all getting more affluent
- The need for communications is increasing
- We are all busier, leading more stressful lives
- The need for more quality of life is increasing
This fascinating presentation linked socio-economic changes with industry statistics to clearly show how mobile technology has changed over the past two decades.
20 years ago, the mobile phone was a relatively primitive communication tool used mainly by top executives. Top of such users' wish list then was a phone that could fit in the pocket! Now, the mobile phone is a sophisticated, multi-faceted entertainment device, that even young children (or at least their parents) can afford.
